The Creatures

The Gentro

Anatomical:Noticeably the Gentro are much more lively, having a wide spectrum of shapes and color. Commonly the Gentro are relatively spherical, curved, or contain curves in some way. They have small limbs, two legs (with a single wide padded foot) and two arms (with hands counting 3 fingers and a thumb-like digit) and no noticeable eyes, ears, or mouths. They are not known to consume or excrete anything during their lifespan. All Gentro are descended from the Erte, and descend from the upper reaches beyond vision.

Behavioral:The way the Gentro interacts with the world around them and with each other is quite simple. They have a clumsy but innocent nature, and unique personalities even within the same classification of Gentro. As shown in the attached the leftmost Gentro is resting, laid a bit back. The middle Gentro appears to be waving to the photographer. While the rightmost Gentro seems to be standing in a unique position. Regardless of birth order or class they interact equally with each other and seem to have no level of social hierarchy. On this note, some classes of Gentro do seem to be naturally inclined to perform certain tasks. It is important to note that the Gentro protect and guard each Erte, even if it was not the one they descended from. This primarily lies in pushing back and Snardis that approach on the territory they have. Each and every Erte is highly respected.

Habitat:Gentro Habitat centers around the Erte, developing a city-like structure, with expanding borders leading to pathways and further towns. The places they live in spread along the roots of the Erte, and blossom lush life as they continue outward. The Erte provides more Gentro into these towns and this allows them to maintain a stable city while having to expand their borders in the dangerous Snardis territory.

The Snardis

Anatomical:The Snardis are much more varied, not having a consistent shape or pattern between them. The few captured in the attached are all in the same class, yet appear much more different than the Gentro in the same class. This makes each Snardis much more unique in appearance. They have leg-like appendages at the base of their bodies, although everything including the number, shape, spacing, width, length, size, and area of their legs is unique. Between all classes they all have some consistent attributes, there is a lack of ears, eyes, mouth, or arms of any kind (Some have appendages that look like arms, but are not functional). It is not known where the Snardis originate from, but it is believed that it comes from the cold night sand in the deserts, but not yet known exactly how.Behavioral:The Snardis are much less diverse than the Gentro, acting relatively similar. They tend to roam in packs simply wandering in an attempt to reach lands outside the desert to begin turning to sand, expanding the desert terrain. They all have a strange habit of taking a complete rest during a full and new moon cycle completely unmoving, during other moon cycles they are less active than day, but still move.Habitat:The desert is the terrain the Snardis are most acclimated with, attempting to consume the green lands and replace them with desert. The days are much hotter in the desert, with the nights colder. Winds whip sand offen, but remain uncomfortably still on new and full lunar cycles. This in tandem with the still nature of the Snardis makes an incredibly uncomfortable space, with an off feeling of being under watch. This feeling is yet to be proven, but consistent across multiple consistent reports.

History

The Language

The Gentro and Snardis are not the most intelligent creatures, and written language seems to be a very minimal part of their culture. The Snardis specifically seem to lack any desire or want to collaborate with each other in a more civilized way than simply being together to expand the desert.New Language:New generations of Gentro have begun creating a more refined and character based language from the same design principles from the more primitive language from their past. This is translated into the english alphabet and also attached at the head of the document.Old Language:The Gentro have developed a primitive language consisting of their shape, doing actions in a more illustrative definition. The work is only recorded using these full picture scenes, with elements and signs representing different numbers, environments, time of day, and other commonly altered elements. Attached to this document are examples and breakdowns of this Gentro picture-language.

The Sun

The Gentro and Snardis live in tandem, but the outside forces that created their existence still watch over them. The Gentro praise and worship the Erte, the direct otherworldly creation from the Sun itself. The first Erte was thrown down into the planet rooting deep into the crust of the planet and as it grows it raises the lands around it, absorbing the plentiful waters in the island based world. The Sun provides life to the Ertes around the world and in turn security and nourishment for the Gentro.

The Moon

The Gentro and Snardis live in tandem, but the outside forces that created their existence still watch over them. The Snardis praise and worship the sands of the deserts they form, as their barren wastes allow the Snardis to bask in the glow of the Moon and in specific the being attached to its dark side. This being was also created by the Sun in the same way that the Erte was, but must spend all of its life in hiding from the Sun as it has been cast away by God, forced to never again bask in its glow. The creature is horrific in nature and only mentioned briefly in some of the oldest Gentro tales, even then considered to be something of the past.A few consistent descriptors of the beast refer to it as Darkness, or Void. Saying its rough scales chatter together in the lightest winds making a harrowing teeth-chattering noise, but is consistently coated in some gooey substance making its under layers disgustingly slimy upon contact. The beast is also referred to in scale, saying it fits curled up on the dark face of the moon, making it enormous in scale.Despite these descriptions it seems the Gentro stopped keeping any records of the beast past this point, and this sole record is purposely being left to time. After additional Research into the Moon:The strange ritual that the Snardis perform on Full and New Moons will be documented in full in the following. The strange way the Snardis remain fully calm and stationary while “viewing” the moon during the most noticeable parts of its lunar cycle. The wind becomes less noticeable during these events, dropping the harsh night winds to a gentle breeze if there is any at all. The sand follows accordingly, not kicking up dust or stirring at all. This is where further recordable evidence on the Snardis becomes hard to track, as it seems they are simply sleeping or focusing on something. This led us to examine the conditions of the Moon and discovered a shocking revelation.
The failed creation of a higher being was found weeping, curled into itself on the ever cold dark side of the moon. This presence is almost completely removed from the planet as a whole, lost to the creatures of this planet. The Snardis are able to take time to listen and acknowledge the being, but we have no way of knowing if they understand what they are listening to. After understanding this we fully know the Snardis, in some way, care for the lost creatures existence, and may be holding its suffering at bay.

The Planet

The Gentro and Snardis live in their respective formed climates. Gentro live in a tropical jungle environment, typically on high terrain with the Erte being at the highest points of their civilization. They spread out from the base of the mountain and travel expanding their civilization along the root system, always feeling connected and allowing healthy development and growth of their plant. Meanwhile the Snardis are in the desert living and expanding from the beaches and transforming and consuming the life from the Gentro. The two live in constant battle, but only to expand and grow their own numbers, neither actively trying to war, or use complex strategy. It is simply a consequence of their relativity to each other. The day and night cycle serve a standard role, each day and night being 20 hours here on earth giving them a 40 hour day compared to our 24 hour day. The sun and moon serve an immense importance to the world, as the Gentro serve the sun to let the Erte prosper. The Snardis have a strange and unknown connection to the New and Dark side of the moon, Basking in the moonlight as best they can, and almost stunned in the awe of the darkness of a Full moon's night.

The Creation

Researching so far into this world's culture, lifeforms, environment, and even glimpsing into things unknown on the fringe of reality, brings about the central question. Where did everything begin? This is unfortunately only documented history, and it is via the perspective of the Gentro, as the Snardis have no records to speak of. This is the outlook we have found on the matter:The Sun rested peacefully in the sky, beaming its rays through the heavens, but with nothing around to gaze at its brilliance it became unfulfilled by the mundanity of an uncertain and unchanging eternity. This endless eternal space was broken with the creation of something intended to be a space faring creature, akin to a pet. This creature was shaped and molded to survive on its own, and to last as long as the Sun who created it. (1) Unfortunately this creature was mottled and misshapen, deformed with its echoing cries attempting to defy brilliance, with its total light absorbing void of a husk it bore as flesh. This displeases the Sun, who destroyed the creature (2). With this abomination gone the Sun created a place to look over instead of making the being bear the hard environment of space. This is where the world came from, but this world was still barren of life. This is where the Sun thrust down many stakes piercing and rooting into the deepest parts of the planet. This is what we know as the Erte. With the Erte came the Gentro, as the fell from the upper reaches of its heavenly branches, tumbling to the world below to nurture, upkeep, and praise the Sun’s Ertes. Then the inevitable role of the Snardis to balance the universe and wreak havoc, giving meaning and responsibility to the Gentro (*3). This led to the harsh deserts forming and the Gentro realizing their duty as they have continued to uphold today.Researcher notes:*1: This is where we found the fragments of information describing the creature in addition to our prior investigations.*2: This is what the Gentro Text states, we know this to not be true. The creature was not destroyed, and the Sun gave it a life as long as itself, and instead was exiled onto the dark side of the moon.*3: The Snardis were not solely placed to cause mayhem, they were to assist in cycling the nutrition in the soil, and to kill Gentro as a way of giving nutrients to the Erte. The Gentro and Snardis both were created to serve the Erte.
